Coinbase, the secure & easy way to buy Crypto

Coinbase is one of the most trusted and user friendly Crypto Exchanges out there.  It is headquartered in San Francisco California but has a presence in 32 countries throughout the world. 

Although they insure their deposits, my rule of thumb is the best security is to control your private key/coins.  With that being said they are a very secure and trustworthy exchange. 

Lets sign into coinbase and start buying crypto

Click Sign in on the top right and then Sign up also on the top right.  Fill in the information and create your account.  Your password should be a long phrase that you write down in a notebook.  Something like – I try all things I achieve what I can - This is a quote from Moby Dick and an example of an impossible to hack password. 

They will want you to verify your email address, then they will send a code via text to your phone.  Once this is completed your account will be set up.

Set up 2 factor-verification.  You don’t have to do this, but I recommend this very strongly as it will keep your account super secure.

a.  On your phone, download google authenticator.

b.  On Coinbase, click on the profile picture on the top right, click settings.  Then choose the security tab, then select Two Factor Authentication.

c.  Choose add account on your Google authenticator app.

d.  Take your phone and line it up with the barcode on your computer and it should add the coinbase authentication.

e.  Each time you login you will have to input the 6 digit number provided under Google Authenticator on your phone. 

Now go to Buy and Sell, they will ask you for a picture of the front and back of your drivers license.  Go ahead and take a picture, download it and you now have the ability to transfer from your bank account to Coinbase.

Now that you are ready to transfer funds, click on Buy/Sell at the top of the page. 

Once the bank has been verified (may take 3 to 5 days) all other transfers are super quick.

If the Crypto you want isn’t in the list, buy Bitcoin and send your Bitcoin to an exchange that has your Crypto.  If you are unsure which Exchanges carry your Crypto, go to Coinmarketcap, find your Crypto in a search, then go to Markets and they will list the exchanges that carry your Crypto.
